Entry Level Culinary Course
Current Culinary Arts programs can have barriers for low income people, such as costly tuition and long waitlists. The New Hope Chef Training Program’s goal is to provide low income, unemployed and/or students the skills needed to “get a foot in the door”. There are many facets to the food service industry and many will become accessible with this free of charge course that is open to anyone who are serious about becoming chefs. This free course includes classroom-style learning, hands on kitchen production, banquets and field trips.

*all students receive a foodsafe certificate prior to course commencement

Chef Training Instructor’s Profile

Executive Chef Scott Rowe, of the New Hope Chef Training Program, brings over 30 years of experience in numerous facets of the food and beverage industry to our program. Previous experience includes Manager of Pizza Patio in Ontario, Head Chef at the Sands Hotel in Vancouver, Executive Chef at Grouse Mountain Resort, and Executive Chef at Pepe's in West Vancouver. Scott has hired and trained youth for various positions in the service / resort industry, and has instructed / motivated youth in competitive swimming. He has an empathy and understanding of addiction as well as other obstacles and issues that may affect youth and people of all ages.

With his fountain of creative ideas and passion for his work, Scott has a gift with teaching, motivating and inspiring people to achieve their goals.

The New Hope Chef Training Program is flourishing under the visionary direction of Chef Scott, whose meticulous standards of quality and innovation are apparent in all of his kitchen's productions.
