Backpacks for Kids

Sleep Country and The Salvation Army join forces annually to operate the Backpacks for Kids drive. Sleep Country advertises and collects backpacks full with $60 - $80 of basic school supplies for kids who are attending elementary and secondary schools. The Salvation Army distributes the backpacks to families who struggle to send their children back to school with the necessary supplies. There are hundreds of children living in the Lower Mainland who need assistance to start off the school year. More than 30 backpacks are distributed to North Shore children annually. The purpose of this program is to help kids avoid the stigma of poverty and to give children from lower income families the same tools to learn as other children. When donating a backpack, please fill it with supplies
necessary for a child of your particular chosen grade.
